Description
Vintage fold-out 1937 Magnolia road map of the Southwest, printed more than 85 years ago.The map opens to 22" x 32" and has good detail on old highway alignments, with cartography by the General Drafting Company.
It was distributed by the Magnolia Petroleum Company in 1937 to promote its Mobilgas and Mobiloil brands, and it is dated in the legend.
The coverage area includes Texas, New Mexico, Oklahoma, Arkansas, and Louisiana, and there's a handsome display ad for the Greater Texas & Pan-American Exposition.
This exposition was a World's Fair held at Fair Park in Dallas, ran from June 12, 1937, through October 1937.
On the reverse side there are inset plans of Houston, San Antonio, El Paso, Fort Worth, Dallas, Shreveport, Little Rock, Tulsa, and Oklahoma City, as well as a place-name index and a map of Mexico.
Condition:
There are scattered small holes, and the map has some wrinkles and creases, with a few tiny chips. A couple of the folds have been reiinforced with archival tape. Please see the scans and feel free to ask any questions.
