    SERVICING INFORMATION
HOOD LOCK: To open the hood, place the fingers between the radiator grille and the header bar, slightly right of the center,
and pull the rod firmly, releasing the hood. Place the fingers between the top of the header bar and bottom flange of the
hood at the center; pull forward as far as possible on the safety latch and raise the hood. The hinge design makes it
advantageous to pull forward as well as upward for easy raising of the hood. When closing the hood, push downward firmly
until the latch is fully engaged and the hood cannot be raised even slightly. If not properly locked, the hood will remain
partly open, held only by the safety latch,
BATTERY LOCATION: Under hood, left side. Size - 12 volts, 70 ampere hours, 66 plates. Negative terminal grounded.
RADIATOR CAP: Pressure cooling is employed with valve in cap set at 13 pounds. Never check the level until the engine
has been stopped for several minutes. Before removing cap, turn it until a slight stop is reached to allow any pressure in the
radiator to be relieved through the overflow pipe. Check coolant level when engine is cold and add water until it reaches line
marked "Filling Level-Cold" stamped approximately 1-1/4 inches below top of radiator tank.
RADIATOR DRAIN: Drain cock located at lower right corner of radiator tank front face. For complete draining, disconnect
heater and defroster hose. Dynaflow oil cooler is in lower radiator tank. Hoses between Dynaflow and radiator carry oil, which
may be hot. CAUTION - Do not remove the hoses when draining the cooling system. When refilling cooling system after
draining, the "Heat Control" lever below radio grille must be pushed to left of high position.
BLOCK DRAIN: Drain cock on each side of block.
GAS TANK FILLER: Center of bumper. Every 5000 miles disconnect fuel line at front of gas tank, remove strainer at tank
outlet and drain the tank. Clean or, if necessary, replace the strainer. When assembling the strainer, apply not more than 7 to
10 Ib ft torque to the nut.
JACKING CAR: The front and rear bumper must NOT be used for jacking purposes. Also, it is important that frame contact
lifts be equipped with adapters to compensate for the 10" wider frame used in 1957 and to eliminate possible damage to the
exhaust system. When using conventional twin posf lifts, care must be exercised not to lift against the rear axle housing
radius rod bracket. On some lifts it may be necessary to locate the car slightly off center to ins ure adequate clearance at
    this point.
WINDSHIE LD WIPER: The windshield wiper blades must not be rotated by hand for any reason as this places a strain on the
    cable fastenings.
As in previous years, when changes in design are made in the manufacturers'
later production, additional Mobilubrication Bulletin will be issued.

tions appearing on the Mobilubrication Disc Chart which are applicable to 1957 construction.
TRANSMISSION (D-1): – Standard on 40 - Check lubricant level every 1000 miles. Add lubricant as required. Drain, flush
and refill every 10,000 miles. Use a good grade of flushing oil. Never steam clean or use kerosine or solvents to flush
    housing.
Filler Opening and Level Gauge: Plug in right side of housing.
Drain: Plug in bottom of housing.
DYNAFLOW TRANSMISSION: (D-5) – Standard on 50, 60, 70, Optional on 40 - With transmission fluid warm, selector lever
in "Parking" position and engine idling, check fluid level every 1000 miles. If level is more than 1 inch below "FULL" mark
on dipstick, add Mobilfluid 200 but do not fill above the "FULL" mark. Distance between the "FULL" and "ADD OIL" marks
    on dipstick represents 1 pint.
Filler Opening and Dipstick: At right rear of engine, reached from under the hood.
Drain and refill oil pan and torque converter every 25,000 miles. See Mobilubrication Bulletin "Correct Lubrication of
Automatic and Semi-Automatic Transmissions" for complete instructions.

    when part of repair procedure."
Filler Opening and Level Gauge: Filler plug in rear of housing cover.
Drain: Use suction gun in filler hole to drain housing. CAUTION: Do not raise rear of car to height which will allow

Mobiloil Arctic to both oil holes above countershaft.

free. If shaft is frozen, free it by tapping ends of shaft lightly with hammer.
POWER STEERING (K-3): Standard on 50, 70. Optiongl on 40, 60, Steering gegr and hydraulic system supplied from reservoir
and oil pump on engine, above generator. Every 1000 miles, thoroughly clean dirt from reservoir, on top of oil pump, and
remove cover. Add Mobilfluid 200 when necessary to maintain fluid level at mark on the reservoir.
POWER BRAKES: Optional equipment on all models. These brakes have a reservoir tank to assist in brake application
    when engine is stopped.
AIR CONDITIONING: Optional on all models.
