    hold the hood open.
    BATTERY LOCATION: Under 'hood, right side. Size - 6, V8 (283) 53 ampere hour, 54 plates. V8 (348) 61 ampere hour, 66
    plates. Negative terminal grounded.
RADIATOR: Drain cock at bottom of radiator, on right front side, reached from above or from underneath car. Fill to one inch
    below filler cap.
BLOCK DRAIN: 6- Plug, left rear side of cylinder block. V8 - Plug at center of each block, just above ol pan.
PRESSURE COOLING: Valve in cap set to open at 13 pounds pressure. Before removing radiator cap turn it to the left until
slight stop is reached to allow any pressure in the system to escape through the overflow before the cap is removed.
GAS TANK FILLER: Behind license plate just above rear bumper. Pull top of panel to swing it down, exposing the gas cap.
On station wagons, open hinged door in left rear fender. A vented cap is used. Never replace it with a non-vented cap.
The information contained in this Mobilubrication Bulletin is based on latest ad-
vice received direct from the factories. As in previous years, changes in design
may be made in the manufacturers' later production.

    LUBRICATION SERVICE INFORMATION
Figures and numerals pr inted in italics and enclosed in parenthes in, as (D-1), refer to illustrations and
descriptions appearing on the Mobilubrication Disc Chart which are applicable to 1960 construction.
TRANSMISSION CONVENTIONAL (D-1): Standard -OVERDRIVE (D-4): Optional on 6, V8 (283 with one dual or 4 barrel
carburetor) - Check lubricant lever every 1000 miles. Add lubricant as required to maintain le vel at filler plug on 3-speed
trans mission and 1/2 below filler plug on 4-s peed transmission. Drain, and refill every 10,000 miles.
When equipped with overdrive, check ing of lubricant level and adding lubricant for both hous ings can be done at transmission
filling hole. After draining, first fill the overdrive hous ing, until lubricant runs out of filling hole and replace the plug, then
fill the trans mission housing until lubricant is at the level of that filling hole and replace the plug.
Filler Opening and Level Gau ge: Plug in side of transminsion housing is used to check and maintain the lubricant
le vel in both housings. Plug in overdrive housing need not be used for normal
    refilling.
Drain: Plug in bottom transmission and overdrive housings.
POWERGLIDE (D-5): TURBOGLIDE (D-5): Check fluld level every 1000 miles. Drain and refill the housing e very 25,000
miles. Extreme care must be used to pre vent dirt from entering filler tube.
The filler tube and dipstick are on the right side of the engine, just opposite the starting motor, and can be reached
from under the hood. The dipstick is marked "Fuli" and "Add 1 Ot" and fluid level should be between these two lines. Fluid
le vel should be checked with engine idling, transmission at operating temperature, parking brake set and selector lever in "N"
position. If the car has been parked for several hours before check ing, run the engine for several minutes with the selector
lever in "D", to warm up the fluid and fill the converter.
There is no drain plug in the torque converter or transmission. Remove the filler tube to drain the transmission.
Less than half of the capacity of the Powerglide or Turboglide, can be drained by this method. The manufacturer does not
recommend draining. See Mobilubrication Bulletin "Correct Lubrication of Automatic and Semi-A utomatic Transmissions
    for detailed instructions.
REAR AXLE (HYPOID GEARS) (D-6): Check lubricant level every 1000 miles. Add lubricant as required. Drain, and refill
after first 1000 miles and then every 10,000 miles or at least once a year.
Positration limited slip differential optional. Identified by metal tag under filler hole. After draining, refill with
    Mobilfluid GX90.
Filler Opening and Level Gauge: Plug at rear of housing.
Drain: Remove drain plug in bottom of housing.
DISTRIBUTOR (E-1) – All - Every 5000 miles apply 1 drop but not more, of Mobiloil Arctic to breaker lever pivot. - 6 - Every
5000 miles grease cam sparingly with Mobilgrease No. 5 or MP. V8 - Replace cam lubricator wick every 25,000 miles.
MANI FOLD HEAT VALVE - v8 - Check valve shaft every 1000 miles and if shaft is sticking, free it up with graphited
kerosine or alcohol containing a small amount of baking soda.
STEERING GEAR (B-3): Because the s teering linkage is ahead of the wheels, a universal type coupling is mounted at the
upper end of the steering gear shaft, between the steering gear mainsha ft and the mast jacket mainshaft. Refll the coupling
    with MG2 every 5000 miles.
POWER STEERING (K-3): Optional - Reservoir over pump at left front of engine. Remove cap with dipstick every 1000 miles
and check fluid level while system is hot. Use Mobilfluid 200 to maintain level at full mark on dipstick.
FUEL FILTER - Replace filter at carburetor inlet every 15,000 miles or oftener if flooding occurs.
AIR CLEANER: (K-2) – Oiled element type. Remove element and clean in Sovasol No. 5 every 1000 miles. Dry, oil with
    Mobiloil AF and replace element.
Oil-bath type. Remove ol from reser voir every 1000 miles. Clean reservoir and element in Sovasol No. 5. Refill
reservoir to indicated level with1 pint of Mobiloil AF in Summer and Mobiloil Arctic in Winter. Do not oil element for excess
oil will drain into reservoir and raise oil above recommended level.
Paper element. Replace element every 15,000 miles. Do not wash, oil, tap or clean it with an air hose.
Polyurethane element. Remove element and clean in Sovasol No. 5 every 5000 miles. Squeeze excess solvent from
element but do not wring it for this may damage the element. Soak element in clean Mobiloil Arctic and squeeze out excess oil.
Adverse or dusty driving conditions may make it necessary to service any air cleaner more often than stated above.
HAND OILING - Transmision shifting linkage idler bushings. Apply Mobiloil Arctic every 1000 miles.
TURBOGLIDE CONTROL SHAFT: Every 1000 miles lubricate shaft between transmission and frame with Mobilgrease No. 2
OIL FILTER (K-1) - 6 - Full flow type. V8 - Full flow type. Replace filter every 5000 miles.
CRANKCASE BREATHER CAP - An air cleaner is in the filler cap. Wash complete cap in Sovasol No. 5 every 1000 miles.
Oil with Mobiloil AF before replacing on engine.
HAND BRAKE – Every 1000 miles, apply Mobilgrease No. 2 or MP to pulley bearing area, cable at pulleys, cable quides just
    behind the frame X" member.
