Figures and numeral printed in italics and enclosed in parenthesin, as (D-1), refer
to illustrations and descriptions appearing on the Mobilubrication Disc Chart which
are applicable to 1960 construction.
TRANSMISSION, CONVENTIONAL (D-1) Standard. Check lubricant level every 1000 miles. Add lubricant as required. Drain
and refill every 10,000 miles or seasonally. Never steam clean or use kerosine or solvents to flunh housing.
Filler Opening and Level Gauge: One plug in right side of housing.
Drain: One plug in bottom of housing.
MILE-O-MATIC (D-5) Optional with all engines. DUAL POWER DRIVE (D-5) Optional with 352 engine. Check fluid level
e very 1000 miles. To make thia check, apply hand brake tightly, move selector lever to "p" position and idle engine. Clean
dirt from around dipstick on right side of transmission, under hood. Remove dipstick after turning it 1/4 turn counterclockwise.
Fluid should be at full mark on dipstick. Use Mobilfluid 200. Drain and refill the housing every 15,000 miles.
See Mobilubrication Bulletin "Correct Lubrication of Automatic and Semi-A utomatic Transmissions" for complete
and approved instructions.
REAR AXLE (HYPOID GEARS) (D-6): Check lubricant level every 1000 miles. Add lubricant as required. Drain and refill
e very 10,000 miles or seas ona lly.
Equa-Lock limited slip differential optional. After draining, refill with special lubricant. Use Mobilube GX 90 for
topping-up.
Filler Opening and Level Gauge: Plug at left in carrier housing.
Drain: No drain plug. Use s uction gun.
DISTRIBUTOR: (E-1) Grease cam sparingly with Mobilgrease No. 5 or MP every 5000 miles.
MANIFOLD VALVE SHAFT: Place a few drops of graphited keronine on end of sha ft every 1000 miles to keep shaft free. Cn
6 apply to le ft side and on V-8 apply to right side. If shaft is frozen, free it by tapping ends of shaft lightly with a hammer.
Valve should open when very light finger pressure is applied to the counterweight.
POWER STEERING (K-3): Linkage type optional. Reservoir at front of engine on left. Check level of fluid in reservoir every
1000 miles. Before checking, clean area around top of dipstick thoroughly to avoid entrance of dirt. To check fluid level, stop
engine and turn cap on top of dipstick counterclockwise and pull it out. Fluid should be 1/2" from top of reservoir. Use
Mobilfluid 200 to maintain fluid at thás level. Replace filter in reservoir every 25,000 miles.
FRONT WHEEL STOPS- Daub Mobilgrease No. 5 on each stop, one on each side, every 1000 miles.
OIL FILTER (K-1): Replace complete filter every 5000 miles. The filter case is threaded into the engine and should be
tightened by hand.
AIR CLEANER: (K-2): Paper element type. Every 1000 miles clean air cleaner by removing filter element and tapping it
lightly to remove dust and dirt. The filter element may also be cleaned with compressed air but care must be exercised so
that the filtering fibre is not ruptured by the air stream. Direct the air stream aga inst the element in a direction opposite that
of the intake air flow. Do not use cleaning solvents and be s ure the compressed air is clean. Replace every 10,000 miles.
CRANKCASE VENTILA TOR AIR CLEANER: Clean screen in breather cap with Sovasol No. 5 every 1000 miles.
TRANSMISSION, CLUTCH AND BRAKE LINKAGE: Every 1000 miles apply Mobiloil Arctic to linkage joints and pivot
points.
POWER BRAKES: Optional.
CONVERTIBLE TOP POWER UNIT RESERVOIR - Check level of fluid in reser voir, under rear seat, every 5,000 miles.
Remove filler plug and maintain level at edge of filler plug hole with Mobil Hydraulic Brake Fluid.
AIR CONDITIONING: Optional.
