While kiln dried wood is great for fast lighting and high heat, the result is a quick pile of ashes. Carolina Cookwood naturally cured/dried wood maintains key elements of the hardwood (sugars) within and is not completely dry. While the exterior portion of the split is dry, allowing for fast lighting, the interior has a slightly higher moisture content producing hot coals that last longer preserving the cooking heat within your oven and reducing the amount of wood used in each cook. Another benefit of natural aging is the classic wood fired aroma. These same sugars within the wood are the source of that mild oak wood smoke flavor that gives you the classic artisan wood burning pizza oven taste and smell. 6 Inch Mini Pizza Split hardwood pieces are perfect for most portable pizza ovens today. Each piece is a rectangular shape, approximately 6 inches in length, from 1/2 inch to 1 3/4 inches width. Each box of 6 Inch Mini Pizza Oven Splits contain more than 725 cubic inches of wood and weighs between 10 12 pounds. For best results, leave the unused wood in the box in a dry environment.
