Wood Chunks for Smoking Meat Smoker Grilling BBQ I weighed 10 boxes and the range was 13 1/2-16 1/2 lbs, on my scale. With an average of 14 1/2 lbs. The weight would very due to different chunk size mix and specific wood water density per box.
I also have bigger blocks (see last photo) if interested send me message and I can weigh out a box
I also have a wood chipper if you want smaller chips, message me and I can weigh out a box.
This cherry wood is from a dead tree I cut down. it is very dry and some of the pieces have edges that are soft, only like 1-2mm, but the cores are solid. It is my opinion that this helps water absorption and slows the wood burning process during smoking.
All my wood is naturally air dried not KILN dried. I smoke my own meats and I feel that kiln dried wood does not enhance the meats flavor as well as air dried. That is my personal opinion.
I chop my wood with a hatchet. The chucks will be cut into 2-4" long pieces about 1-2" thick mostly, however I do throw in small chips from the chopping. As you can see I will fill the boxes as much as I can so that USPS will still stake.

In order open my new business, I have a large wood lot I am clearing. It has a large variety of trees, Maple, Apple, Ash, Alder, Oak Cherry, Birch, beech, birch, Butternut, black walnut and hickory.
