    Description

Large-format fold-out Mobil road map of California's San Fernando Valley, with bold markings and notes on the major earthquake of February 9, 1971.
This map opens to 18" x 37" and was published by Mobil in 1970. It is dated in the legend, and the code number in the lower margin is 706718-2.
It has great detail on old street and highway alignments, with cartography by Rand McNally
The map was evidently used shortly after the earthquake and includes hand-written comments identifying the approximate epicenter in Sylmar, the damage to the Van Norman Dam, evacuation area, collapsed bridge, damaged homes, and more.
