Description
Introduced in 1933, the name Baneda comes from the design motif which features a wide band that encloses Chinese Lanterns, which have spiky leaves, vines and pods. These appear often in dripping glazes of green, blue, orange and yellow. Backgrounds are mainly green or red, rarely blue. Pieces are unmarked or have a foil label. Here we have a pristine example of a 8 1/4 inch tall 1933 Baneda round vase that is really amazing in the striking green background. The handles remind me of dog ears! This vase has excellent color and a nice crisp mold. This is a stunning piece and a pleasure to view.
Exceptional vase in that it has no restoration, no chips, no cracks, no scratches to glaze. I cannot detect any crazing or repairs on this piece. Any imperfections are from the firing/manufacturing process including glaze misses and glaze pops.
