Sweet Roseville Pottery green Gardenia 3” planter vase from 1950, pattern number 656-3. The contrast of the lighter green on the upper vase with the lines that deepen to an olive green on the bulging bottom, the brown band, and the brilliant white gardenias make this little vase stand out in a big way. It has two very small manufacturing defects: one a slightly darker tiny green area on the lower part of one side and the other a bubble defect near it. The inside is pristine. Please examine the pictures closely in order to fully assess for yourself the condition of this vase. I have more pictures if desired. Please see my other Roseville pieces; I will happily combine shipping. Roseville Pottery History
The Roseville Pottery Company was founded in 1890. Roseville initially produced simple utilitarian ware such as flower pots, umbrella stands and other practical household items. In the early 1910s Roseville Pottery shifted production to more commercially produced Arts and Crafts style pottery. Roseville's ability to quickly adapt to changing market conditions was one of their greatest attributes, and so they were continually able to produce the most popular patterns and styles compared to other pottery companies of the time such as Weller and McCoy. In 1918 George Krause became the head of technical supervision and development and Frank Ferrell became the art director, and their combined skills produced many of today's most popular Roseville patterns including Sunflower, Wisteria , Dahlrose, Futura, Ferella, Rosecraft, Cherry Blossom and Blackberry. Ferrell brought years of experience with him from working at Weller and other potteries, and due to his ingenuity Roseville released at least one new line a year until 1954. Roseville introduced Pinecone in 1931, which became the most successful and highest volume pattern produced over the entire existence of Roseville pottery. World War II necessitated more changes at Roseville Pottery, and during this time period Roseville introduced patterns such as Zephyr Lily, Freesia, Columbine, Fuchsia, and White Rose. While all these patterns and more remained the best quality art pottery in the market during the late 1940s and early 1950s, Roseville Pottery closed its doors in 1954. It still remains some of the most sought-after and collectible art pottery ever produced.

A lot of my seller feedback is older than 12 months because I only recently began selling again, but I’ve never gotten a bad review either as a seller or a buyer and I will do my very best for each and every customer. I’m happy to be selling some more of my treasures so that someone else can enjoy them now. Please view all pictures carefully as they most accurately depict the condition of an item. I take the best pictures that I can and describe the items to the extent of my knowledge, but I am not an expert, only a collector of ‘stuff’ for many years. Measurements are approximate, done to the best of my ability. Feel free to contact me if you would like additional pictures or more information about anything I have for sale.
All of my sale items have been cherished and carefully cared for over the years, and mine has always been a smoke-free home. Everything has been stored inside boxes in my clean and dry basement or inside cabinets or furniture. I do have dogs, but they do not come into contact with my sale merchandise, and everything I sell, especially any cloth or soft material items, has been thoroughly cleaned before being put up for sale. I am an environmentally conscious seller so I do reuse boxes and packaging material from items that I buy, but only if they meet my high standards of cleanliness.
I have always been known for my very careful packaging in order to ensure there will be no movement or breakage in transit of any item I sell. If damage does occur during shipping, or if you are unhappy for ANY reason, please contact me before leaving feedback and I promise to make it right. I appreciate your business!
