Description
The Vacuum Oil Company first trademarked the Pegasus logo in 1911. Patterned after the Greek mythological symbol of a white-winged horse, the red-winged Mobil horse symbol remained with the company when it was renamed from Magnolia Petroleum to Mobil Oil in 1963 and until today. This is the calendar Mobil dealers handed out to customers in late 1956. You know, the height of tail fins, soda shops, drive ins, sock hops, and early rock ‘n roll! Imagine this hanging in your recreated service station, repair shop, garage, auto parts store, soda shop or country store? Or in some mid-century modern decor with other 1950s memorabilia? Or as part of calendar collection? Razz my berries!
No, this isn’t a girlie calendar. Those were hung
where the mechanics worked, out of general public view. You can buy one of those in other places. See you later, alligator! This is the kind of calendar Mobil dealers would hand out to customers and display where women and children were likely to be present, like in a customer seating area or in a gas station office in view of the public. It measures 12.5 x 11.5 inches (32 x 29 cm) folded, so the pictures are large and visible from a distance. It features a Southwestern theme, Mobil’s home territory in the 1950s. It is in very good condition, with sharp corners, no writing, no missing pages, and only a little water mark on the bottom right corner. Shipped free in the US. Don't be crusin' for a brusin, Drip!
