  • Condition: This classic Roseville dark pink vase is in excellent condition. It is near new for this old of a piece except for one misfortune. There is a chip on the edge at the top of the vase. It is in the back of the vase. By back, I mean the side with one and not two strands of foxglove. I've examined it carefully. It is only one self contained blemish. I see no cracking or spreading coming from it. It can be repaired or masked with little effort. We chose not to cover it so that it would not appear that we were trying to hide it. The pictures will display this mishap clearly. Other than that chip, the vase is in truly beautiful condition. It was passed down to me by my mother and grandmother. It received the utmost care as we all, generation to generation, have appreciated the beauty of such collectibles. This Rosevile vase is an exceptional piece of art.

    Description

    A bit ab
    out Roseville-
The Roseville Pottery Company was an American Art Pottery maunfacturer in the 19th and 20th century.  It was established in 1890 in Roseville, Ohio.  The company manufactured pottery for 70 years and developed a strong following for its artistic expressions.  Its works became one of the most prized and sought after forms of antique collectibles. Roseville ceased operation in 1954.  However, the company's visibility and innovations kept it in the forefront of various decorating styles.  To this day, Roseville is considered the most collectible art pottery ever produced.  The Foxglove pattern was one of its later designs to be introduced.
    The vase-
This vase is a dark pink in color.  I looked at many sites to determine the official name of the color. The only real consistency was "pink"; rose. brown, zepher lily/brown, and peony pink were all used to describe it.  It is an unusual color,  pink alone does not capture it as there is a darkness to it.  It is a fascinating color that adds to the uniqueness of the vase.  On a vase of this height , 10", the foxglove strands are particularly beautiful as they flow the entire length of the vase and even bend with the pottery where it starts the widening for its top.  This particular work is also identified strongly by the two unique handles that have a squarish look at the bottom and seem to almost reach the top of the vase.  The vase is an exceptional example of pottery as art, a tradition for which Roseville stood. The imperfection on this particular vase is explained in the condition section of this listing. The asking price will be adjusted due to this unfortunate chip in its otherwise excellent condition.
