Talk about a rare vintage oil company advertising item!!! VINTAGE SOCONY VACUUM OIL CO. GARGOYLE MOBILOIL STRAIGHT RAZOR Advertising Piece . From an estate auction and sold in as found condition, see photos. 6" (Closed) straight razor with ivory colored handles. Blade on one side is marked GARGOYLE MARINE OILS with a gargoyle perched on a ledge with the name GARGOYLE above. This trade mark was first used in 1-21-1907 and was registered on 11-30-1909. Other side of blade is marked VACUUM OIL COMPANY Rochester, U.S.A. ID on blade handle is IXL Geo. Wostenholm & Co. Sheffield Eng. Long history of the Vacuum Oil Company that was founded in 1866 by Matthew Ewing and Hiram Bond Everest in Rochester NY and merged with Standard oil of NY SOCONY . Great advertising piece, we do not know the age but we have not seen another one like this. Shipping and handling includes insurance and signature for delivery.
